There is no difference.
Many people think that Alzheimer’s and Dementia are different. Alzheimer’s is a type of dementia and the most common. Dementia is the overall term used to describe over 100 different types of dementia – Alzheimer’s is just one type of dementia.
Another way of understanding is…. Your parent may have a diagnosis of dementia and the type of dementia is fronto-temporal dementia. This will affect them differently compared to someone who has Alzheimer’s dementia.
